Advocate Malesela Teffo remains struck from the roll of legal practitioners and has not been readmitted to the legal profession.
"He is therefore not entitled to practise as a legal practitioner in South Africa," the Legal Practice Council (LPC) said, moving to dispel reports suggesting Teffo had automatically regained the right to practise law.
Teffo had said he is ready to return to the high-profile Senzo Meyiwa murder trial after being acquitted on all six criminal charges against him, describing the outcome as a long-awaited vindication after years of reputational damage.
Teffo expressed that he was "very happy and relieved" after his acquittal, but noted that the criminal prosecution had damaged the trust between him and his clients.
