Curro Delft learner Naphtali Makengo has been selected for the Cape Town All Stars tour to Argentina but is now in race to raise the funds needed
When 15-year-old Curro Delft learner Naphtali Makengo was selected for the Cape Town All Stars Argentina Tour 2027, it marked the culmination of years of hard work and perseverance on the rugby field.
Now, the Grade 9 learner, who plays for the Delft Girls Rugby team and is also a junior rugby referee, is racing against time to raise the funds needed to turn her dream of representing South Africa on the international stage into reality.
Makengo said the opportunity to join the tour would be life-changing.
"When I found out about being selected for the tour I was so shocked and grateful because going to practice, taking taxis, walking home, going there hungry, even going when I was fasting on Ramadan, doing practice during the trials, I felt the hard work had finally paid off," she said.
