Tereske Kabuika, 19, from Atlantis, is dominating the world of women's rugby.

A teenager who began her rugby journey just over a year ago has now secured a remarkable opportunity, receiving a call-up for the prestigious Springboks Junior Women’s team.

Tereske Kabuika, 19, from Avondale in Atlantis, has established herself as a prominent sporting figure in her community, having garnered numerous medals and showcased her talent in competitions since her early days at Parkview Primary School.

While Kabuika was known to dominate the athletics field in the 100m and 200m track events, making it to the South African championships, she had no idea how her life would change in a moment of curiosity.

“At first, someone told me to make a switch to rugby. I said no. One girl invited me to train in Mamre and see how it goes. I went in March/April last year, and I have been going ever since,” Kabuika says shyly.
