Toronto FC has reportedly agreed to sign German defensive midfielder Niklas Dorsch from Bundesliga club 1. FC Heidenheim for a $4.3 million transfer fee on a five-year deal. However, no credible reports as of July 22, 2026 support the claim that Toronto FC is pursuing him.

The deal and the player

Dorsch, born January 15, 1998, is a defensive midfielder who moved to Heidenheim from FC Augsburg in August 2024 for a reported fee of around €3.5 million. He remains under contract with the club until June 2028.

Reports have placed Heidenheim’s asking price for Dorsch somewhere between €6 and €7 million, though conflicting reports suggest an active release clause exists at around €1.5 million. The reported Toronto fee of $4.3 million, roughly €3.9 million at current exchange rates, would land somewhere in the middle of those figures.

Dorsch has also attracted interest from other clubs. Recent speculation has linked him to Lech Poznan in Poland, VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga, and Turkish club Samsunspor.
