Former school teacher, 86-year-old Iain Wares, at a previous court appearance at the Wynberg Regional Court.
The sentencing of convicted paedophile Iain Wares has been delayed until next month after a medical certificate submitted to the Wynberg Regional Court confirmed he had been booked off sick until July 28.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila said Wares is expected to appear on August 24 , where sentencing arguments will be heard and defence reports will be submitted.
Last week, the court heard that Wares attended a hospital consultation, where he was diagnosed with shingles, and the consulting doctor issued a sick note confirming that his patient was in severe pain.
Wares’ legal counsel, William Fullard, previously informed the court that Wares’ medication causes him to feel drowsy and unsteady, and effectively meant that his client would not be able to follow court proceedings while receiving treatment.
