The case against convicted child sex offender Iain Wares has been postponed after he suffered health complications at the Wynberg Magistrate's Court.

Wares appeared in court for pre-sentencing proceedings on Wednesday following his conviction earlier this year on an indecent assault charge relating to a former pupil at Rondebosch Boys’ Preparatory School.

The offence dates back to 1988, when the complainant was still a child and a pupil at the school.

Women & Men Against Child Abuse (WMACA), which has been following the case, said three members of its advocacy team attended court to hear arguments in aggravation and mitigation of sentence.
