TechnologyMotorola, Inc.Motorola has just announced the launch of a new Android smartphone that packs a massive battery and rapid charging.14:29, 21 Jul 2026Samsung may still dominate Android sales worldwide, but Motorola is fighting back with the launch of a feature-packed new rival. The all-new Motorola Edge 70 Max arrives with two standout features that even Samsung's latest flagship Galaxy phones can't currently match – a huge battery and ultra-fast charging.‌Head inside the Edge Max and you'll find a massive 7,100mAh silicon-carbon battery, designed to keep streaming, gaming and scrolling going for far longer between charges. Unlike traditional lithium-ion cells found in Samsung and other devices, silicon-carbon technology packs more energy into the same space, delivering increased life without making phones thicker or heavier.‌When the battery does finally run low, Motorola has another trick up its sleeve. Plug it into the mains and the battery will be boosted at rapid speeds thanks to the Edge 70 Max supporting 90W TurboPower charging. Motorola boasts that this technology can provide enough juice for the day after just six minutes plugged in. That's another area where it outpaces Samsung, whose current phones top out at 60W wired charging.‌The battery performance has already impressed the experts at DXOMARK, which awarded the Edge 70 Max its coveted Gold Label for battery life and charging.Away from its power credentials, Motorola has packed in plenty of flagship features. The phone sports a sharp 6.82-inch Quad HD+ (2K) display, while Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor powers everything from demanding games to AI features. A large vapour chamber cooling system also helps keep temperatures under control during intensive use.‌Photography is another key focus. The Edge 70 Max includes an AI-powered camera system led by a 50MP Sony LYTIA 710 sensor, alongside an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a dedicated macro lens for close-up shots.Other highlights include an aircraft-grade aluminium frame, Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, water resistance and a premium design available in Pantone Aqua Gray, Pantone Dark Shadow and Pantone Ice Melt."Great technology should look beautiful, perform brilliantly and fit effortlessly into everyday life," said Wilkin Lee, Head of Marketing UK & Ireland at Motorola. "With immersive visuals, powerful performance, all-day battery life and the responsiveness gamers demand, the Edge 70 Max delivers a premium entertainment experience without compromise."Article continues belowThe Motorola Edge 70 Max is on sale now in the UK, priced at £699.99.Choose Daily Mirror as a 'Preferred Source' on Google News for quick access to the news you value.‌Gold LabelQualcomm Inc.Motorola, Inc.Android
