Warrant of arrests against businessman and taxi boss, Siyabonga Getsemane, his daughter, and others have been stayed by the Durban High Court.
The Durban High Court on Monday stayed the execution of arrest warrants issued in June 2026 against controversial KwaZulu-Natal taxi boss Siyabonga Thomas Getsemane, his daughter, and two other applicants.
The order followed an urgent application brought by Getsemane against the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the Minister of Police, and other respondents.
Police attempted to execute the warrants at Getsemane’s home on July 17, but he was not there. The warrants had been authorised by the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court on June 26, 2026.
After failing to find him, police contacted his attorney, Sibusiso Dlamini, who discovered that the warrants bore the same case number as a November 2023 matter in which Getsemane and 12 others had been arrested.
