A Briton convicted in absentia of fatally punching a fellow British holidaymaker outside a nightclub on the Greek island of Zakynthos has been ordered to be extradited to Greece to serve a 12-year prison sentence for manslaughter.
Luke Brownsdon was sentenced after a Greek court found him guilty of causing fatal bodily harm with serious intent over the death of 35-year-old Matt Jeffery, who died after being punched during an altercation in the resort of Laganas in May 2019.
Jeffery, from Somerset, was on a stag weekend when a fight broke out in a club between his friends and a group they had never met before from Essex. Followed out of the club, he was punched, suffering fatal head injuries after falling to the pavement
He died five days later in hospital.
Last week, Westminster Magistrates Court approved Brownsdon’s extradition. He has seven days to appeal the ruling.
