Court rejects appeal from road rage killer sentenced for double murder.
The Northern Cape High Court has dismissed an application for leave to appeal brought by convicted double murderer John Ivan Francious Mouton.
Judge President Kathy Satchwell ruled that there are no reasonable prospects that another court would overturn either his convictions or the severe sentences imposed following a fatal road rage shooting.
Mouton was convicted in April 2025 on multiple charges arising from a road rage incident in which two people were shot dead.
He was sentenced to two life terms of imprisonment for the murders, and three charges of attempted murder. The court ordered that some of the sentences run concurrently, effectively leaving Mouton to serve life imprisonment.
