Greece is becoming one of the top destinations for buying a holiday home in the Mediterranean, with demand this year being particularly high, especially among high-net-worth buyers. This is included in a report by Engel & Volkers Greece, which operates a privately owned nationwide network of real estate agencies.

According to CEO Giorgos Petras, “high-net-worth buyers are not just looking for functional holiday homes, but unique properties that offer perfect privacy, unobstructed panoramic views and a harmonious connection with natural beauty. Architectural innovation, top quality construction, energy efficiency and sustainability are becoming increasingly critical factors for an investment.”

The main reason for the high demand and prices is the imbalance between supply and demand. “Whether it is the discreet luxury of the Cyclades, the authenticity of the Ionian Islands, or the emerging, unique destinations of the Peloponnese, the Greek second home market is proving to be extremely resilient.

As supply in these highly sought-after locations is inherently limited, luxury and premium properties here ensure long-term value retention and high prospects for sustainable capital appreciation,” says Petras.
