The first reading of a bill to ratify the concession for the International Airport of Kalamata began at the Parliament’s Standing Committee of Economic Affairs on Monday.
The bill is titled “Ratification of the Concession Agreement Granting the Right to Administer, Manage, Operate, develop, Expand, Maintain, and Exploit Kalamata International Airport ‘Captain Vassilis Konstantakopoulos.’”
Deputy Finance Minister Dimitris Markopoulos told the committee that the timeline is very tight and that immediate action must be taken.
“Messinia cannot wait,” he stressed, referring to the region, and pointing out the benefits of an upgraded airport, including new retail stores, infrastructure and jobs.
