While vacationing in Fiji in 2012, Barry Walker was greeted by a friendly local who placed a flowered lei around his neck and whispered into his ear, “Welcome home.” He and his wife, Shauna, soon fell in love with the Yasawa archipelago—a chain of volcanic islands off Fiji’s western edge, famous as a backdrop for The Blue Lagoon films.
“We were sitting on a beach and saw this little island in the distance,” Barry, cofounder of the California-based cannabis company Dub Brothers, told Mansion Global. “We then got picked up by a local boat and taken there. We went around the island, and the locals said it had been deserted for a while.”
