Argentine government officials at the Casa Rosada acknowledge that activity over the past few weeks was disrupted first by the fallout from the Adorni scandal and then by the FIFA World Cup.
With the tournament now over, the administration is now looking to regain the initiative through legislative proposals, economic reforms, and the start of a broader political consolidation aimed at the next presidential election.
With that in mind, the government convened its political leadership team last week to organize the legislative calendar for the second half of the year and determine the path forward for the government’s most urgent bills.
The administration’s crucial initiatives include a reform of the Central Bank’s charter, changes to the subsidy regime, amendments to the fiscal innocence law, and the debate over a bill aimed at protecting private property, which was recently postponed.
The package will also include a new round of deregulatory measures drafted by Deregulation Minister Federico Sturzenegger.
