A fourth suspect was remanded in pretrial custody Monday in connection with a fatal arson attack on the house of New Democracy politician Afroditi Nestora earlier in the month.

The 25-year-old man, who denied involvement, is charged alongside three other detainees with severe counts including homicide with intent, forming a terrorist organization, and arson. The July 1 gas canister attack resulted in the death of Nestora’s mother, Vagia.

The court’s ruling sparked clashes at the Thessaloniki courthouse. A solidarity crowd physically attacked police lines before being pushed back. Authorities ultimately detained 19 individuals, formally arresting two for violence against judicial figures.
