Before we had even reached our second stop, our group had already been jokingly branded “alcoholics” — by two local women we had just met.
The accusation was entirely unintentional and came after a brief, light-hearted exchange initiated by one of our guides.
“Would you like to join us?” Matúš Burian asked spontaneously as he turned towards two older women taking a casual stroll past our group on a Friday afternoon. We had just stepped off the red, roofless Račanská lokálka — a summer tourist train that takes locals and visitors through Rača, introducing them to the district’s vineyards and winemakers — on Alstrova Street, where we were heading to meet the second winemaker, Rudolf Rakyta, on our itinerary.
