xAI’s Grok AI is now available as a free add-in for Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, directly challenging Microsoft’s own Copilot product that runs about $30 per month.
The rollout happened in stages: PowerPoint on June 16, Word on June 18, and Excel on June 22. All three are free for Microsoft 365 users.
What Grok actually does inside Office
The add-ins let users do the things you’d expect from an AI assistant embedded in productivity software. In Word, Grok can draft structured documents. In PowerPoint, it generates slide decks from outlines. In Excel, it handles data analysis through natural language queries.
The integration also includes web research capabilities and connectivity to email, SharePoint, and Google Drive.
