Lithuania's judicial system remains strong and reliable, according to the European Commission's latest rule of law report, the country's Supreme Court said on Monday.
The report found that public and business confidence in judicial independence was high, with 66% of residents and 70% of companies rating the independence of courts and judges as "fairly good" or "very good".
The Commission also gave a positive assessment of Lithuania's progress on digitalising its courts and on other quality indicators.
The report comes as Lithuanian courts grapple with major disruptions to Liteko II, a modernised court information system that has been in use since June 1.
While the overall assessment was positive, the Commission flagged issues that could weigh on the judicial system's performance in the long run, chief among them a shortage of financial and human resources.
