Issue of new commander-in-chief to remain off agenda at staff meeting — Office of President

Reports that the appointment of a new commander-in-chief will be discussed at the meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief are inaccurate.

According to a Ukrinform correspondent, Dmytro Lytvyn, the president’s communications adviser, told reporters this.

“…There have been reports that the issue of a new commander-in-chief will supposedly be discussed at the General Staff today. This is incorrect. The meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief is not for that at all, but rather to discuss requests from corps commanders regarding supplies and certain minor organizational decisions,” Lytvyn said.

When asked whether personnel changes in the military should be expected today, he said, “I wouldn’t expect any today.”

As previously reported, the president held meetings with the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykhailo Drapatyi; Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Volodymyr Horbatiuk; and Commander of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleh Apostol.
