THREE young victims, including an 11-year-old girl, survived a drive-by shooting in Kewtown which resulted in the death of a 19-year-old teen.

According to police an unknown vehicle drove by and started shooting randomly at the occupants on the corners of Klappersbos and Springbok Street on Friday.

Provincial police spokesperson Constable Ndakhe Gwala, said: “Athlone police registered a case of murder and three counts of attempted murder, following a shooting incident at the corners of Klappersbos and Springbok Street, Kewtown on Friday July 17, 2026.

“According to reports, an unknown vehicle drove by and started shooting randomly.

“A 19-year-old male sustained fatal wounds while three victims aged 11, 14 and 27 were rushed to a medical facility for treatment.
