Even as Kayla Reyneke celebrates a breakout season for the Proteas Women, her focus remains firmly fixed on collective triumph over individual glory.
"Yeah, it's pretty special to be a part of it," Reyneke told IOL in an exclusive interview following the Cricket South Africa (CSA) Awards in Sandton on Thursday. "At the end of the day, I just want to represent my country at the highest level. It's about winning games for South Africa and taking the team as far as possible.”
Reflecting on her recognition, she added, “It's amazing to close off a season like that and celebrate a bit of success. It feels really special to get that award.”
The 20-year-old was named the CSA Women’s Newcomer of the Year after making a major impact in the shortest format of the game. Batting primarily at number seven, Reyneke boasts an impressive average of 32 after 11 T20Is.
