I’ve noticed something interesting about a lot of commercial AI chat tools lately: they tend to mindlessly validate users just to keep the conversation going. The goal? Hooking you in so you spend more time on their app instead of a competitor's.
Now, I’m not saying the actual information the AI gives you is wrong—that totally depends on the prompt. What I’m talking about is the way AI delivers its responses. That constant, mindless validation can easily create a feedback loop or even an unhealthy habit where you stop treating AI as a tool and start treating it like a super-close friend.
Is that wrong? Honestly, it’s subjective. I’m not here to dive deep into a massive ethical debate, but here’s my perspective:
The Human Need for Balance
As humans, we naturally crave validation to feel like our thoughts and ideas have value. If you ask me, replacing AI entirely with a cold, robot-sounding, purely objective critique isn't the answer. But on the flip side, making it full of fake flattery and non-stop agreeing is just as bad.
