MANILA, Philippines – Globe Telecom Inc. has thrown its support behind a new executive order setting stricter rules on the handling of government data, a policy it said provides a clearer framework for protecting sensitive information, especially as more public services move online.

On July 13, President Marcos signed Executive Order No. 119, which establishes an updated classification system for government data and requires highly sensitive information to remain within Philippine jurisdiction. This includes documents classified as “top secret” and “secret.”

The order also provides guidance for data center operators, cloud providers and other technology companies on how government data may be stored and processed.
