Keeladi is a big treasure of all times and the Tamil Nadu government is fully aware of the need to preserve and promote the richness and importance to the world, said Tamil Nadu Tamil Development Minister Rajmohan here on Sunday.The Minister, who visited Mangulam hillock, the 3rd century BC caves and monastery beds, and Keeladi museum and excavation sites, accompanied by officials from the ASI, Tourism Director Jeyaseelan, Madurai Collector Nishanth Krishna, MLAs S Karthikeyan and Karuppiah, told media persons that the State government would provide support to the ASI and Union government in this programme.He said that the site was historically significant as Pandya King Nedunchezhian’s inscriptions were spotted here and that it established his rule from Sangam Age. For more visibility and easy access, the Department officials would provide better infrastructural facilities, he assured.There were many more such precious locations in Tamil Nadu, which the government would be eager to preserve and take it to the masses.“We are examining a few sites with scientific evidence. Soon, they would be made known to the public,” Mr Rajmohan said.The officials from the Department of Tourism have been told to install visible display boards which would facilitate the visitors to reach the destinations without difficulty.
