Amanda Holden has hit out at critics who have labelled her daughter Lexi a 'nepo-baby' after being signed to Storm modelling agency and walking the catwalk at London Fashion Week14:55, 19 Jul 2026Updated 14:55, 19 Jul 2026Amanda Holden has finally addressed critics who have labelled her daughter Lexi a "nepo-baby" after she signed to Storm modelling agency and secured a place to walk at London Fashion Week in 2024.‌The term nepo-baby is used to describe the children of celebrities who have gained entry into notoriously difficult industries due to their family connections.‌When asked her thoughts on the nepo-baby term, she revealed: "Being someone's kid is not going to secure work, make a living for you and longevity in whatever career."‌The Britain's Got Talent judge added: "It may get a foot in the door, but then you're on your own, so I think it's unfair to sort of single out showbusiness or the music industry, because they're the worst businesses to be in!"‌Amanda simply said that everyone makes use of connections to get further in life and she has done the same at Global Radio Studios, where she hosts Heart Breakfast.She continued to explain to the Daily Mail: "At Global, this is the week where the kids come in to make the tea and coffee and see how it all works. Everyone has such tenuous connections and it's brilliant, we welcome them with open arms."She added: "Hollie [Amanda's youngest daughter] is going to be doing this next year, but any kid that I know - if they needed a hand, the door is open. If I can help anyone, I'll do it. It's not just my own kids, it's my friends' kids."‌She went on to say: "I just hate the term nepo baby because it's up to them to make it on their own. And it's often worse having a famous parent, it's not often a good thing."She added that her youngest Hollie is in fact embarrassed to have a famous mother and has to drop her off at the end of the road, in order to not be seen. However, it seems as though Hollie picks and chooses when she asks her mum to use her influence.She said: "She loves it when it can get her into like the theatre for like The Stranger Things premiere or something, but yeah, she hates it the rest of the time."‌And although Amanda appears to have the utmost patience when on-screen it seems one thing she will not abide is rude behaviour, especially when they disrupt live shows.The TV personality recalls the moment she felt forced to scold a member of the audience while watching Wicked.Speaking at the celebration to mark the 80th anniversary of Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, Amanda said told the Daily Mail in a separate interview: "I've told people off for making noise. I was watching Wicked and there was this family behind me - they literally had a packed lunch.
