The Telangana government constituted a 26-member State-level Expert Committee, headed by State Planning Board Vice-Chairman G. Chinna Reddy, to assess the likely impact of the El Nino phenomenon on the State and recommend measures to mitigate its effects.According to the G.O. issued by the government, the committee comprises senior officials from various government departments and has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive study on the potential consequences of El Nino across sectors.The panel will examine the possible impact of the weather phenomenon, evaluate the State’s preparedness and suggest strategies to minimise its adverse effects. It has been asked to submit a detailed report to the government after an in-depth assessment.The government is expected to formulate its future course of action based on the committee’s recommendations, with the report likely to guide policy decisions relating to agriculture, water resources, disaster preparedness and other affected sectors.
