Chelsea is reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa. A medical is said to be in the works as the two clubs finalize terms.
The reported agreement between Chelsea and Aston Villa comes amid a complicated landscape of competing interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs. Arsenal, Manchester United, PSG, and Bayern Munich have all been linked to Rogers, with multiple reports from outlets including Sky Sports and The Guardian positioning Arsenal as the actual frontrunner.
Arsenal has reportedly been engaged in advanced discussions over personal terms with Rogers, with club-to-club negotiations expected to follow. Chelsea, under manager Xabi Alonso, has maintained interest but has been widely described as trailing Arsenal in the pursuit.
Rogers signed a contract extension with Aston Villa through 2031 back in November 2025. That long-term deal gives Villa significant leverage in any negotiation, which helps explain why the asking price has reportedly ballooned past the £100 million mark.
Chelsea, backed by the Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital ownership group, has been among the most aggressive spenders in world football since the consortium’s takeover.
