MANILA, Philippines – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Saturday said booking or platform fees that are paid by passengers when booking taxis through online platforms will have a price cap of either P60 or 20 percent of the total approved rate, whichever is lower.
In a statement, the agency said it recently approved Memorandum Circular No. 2026-055 that establishes the new price cap following complaints and inquiries from the public regarding fees being charged by taxi operators who use online platforms for bookings.
The LTFRB said the lack of a clear policy regarding online bookings of taxis has resulted in “unauthorized or inconsistent collection of additional charges.”
