Correctional Services Minister Pieter Groenewald said the cooperation agreement signed with Namibia was advancing the inter-state transfer of sentenced foreign prisoners.
On Friday, Groenewald signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in correctional services with his Namibian counterpart, Lucia Iipumbu.
This happened during the fourth session of the South Africa-Namibia Bi-National Commission held in Pretoria.
Groenewald said the agreement built on the momentum of the agreement concluded with Botswana in May and paved the way for the future interstate transfer of sentenced offenders.
