The European Commission has approved a Greek state plan of €41 million to support agricultural companies in the production sector that have been hurt by increased fertilizer prices due to the Middle East crisis.
According to the Commission, the aid will take the form of direct grants and will cover 15% of the total cost for fertilizers purchased from March 15 until August 31.
The aid is capped at €50,000 per beneficiary.
The European Commission approved the plan under the Middle East Crisis Temporary State Aid Framework (METSAF) adopted by the Commission on April 29.
METSAF remains in effect until December 31, and is specifically focused on the sectors of agriculture, fishery, transport, and energy-intensive industries.
