Dindigul Collector Durgamoorthi flagged off an awareness rally and a signature campaign aimed at raising public awareness regarding Census 2027, in Dindigul, on Friday.The Collector said the first phase of the census in the district comprising self-enumeration (from July 17 to July 31) and house-listing and housing census (from August 1 to August 30) was currently underway.The public are encouraged to complete the self-enumeration by visiting the official portal se.census.gov.in. On successful completion of the self-enumeration process, a unique identification number (ID) will be generated. Citizens should produce this ID to enumerators during their household visit, she said.The public are requested to cooperate by providing accurate information to the officials who visit homes to collect data. Various awareness programmes are being conducted across the district to ensure the census is carried out accurately in Dindigul district, she said.An awareness rally was conducted in this regard. Over 500 school and college students participated in the rally taken out through the bus stand, flower market, Dindigul Government Medical College Hospital and concluded at the Revenue Divisional Officer’s office. A signature campaign was also conducted.The Collector urged the public to extend their cooperation to ensure Census 2027 in the district was completed accurately and expeditiously.Dindigul Corporation staff were seen assisting residents to fill the self enumerations.
