Emergency services worked tirelessly at the building collapse near the New Ahobilam Temple of Protection in Verulam in December.

THE families of two victims, who died when a building collapsed near the New Ahobilam Temple of Protection in Verulam in December 2025, expressed gratitude that the matter would be referred for criminal prosecution if construction non-compliance was confirmed.

The week, the Department of Employment and Labour (DEL) indicated that it would refer the building for criminal prosecution should non-compliance be confirmed, IOL reported.

Teboho Thejane, the spokesperson for the DEL, said: “Should non-compliance be confirmed, they would refer the matter for criminal prosecution. All will be determined in the finalisation of the report.”
