The Tambaram City Police arrested a 25-year-old man from Bihar at the Central railway station on Thursday, barely two hours after he allegedly murdered his co-worker during a quarrel at a biriyani shop in Selaiyur.According to the police, the incident occurred around 3.15 p.m. on Thursday when Dharmender Turi, 24, a native of Bihar and an employee at a biriyani shop in Selaiyur, got into an argument with his co-worker Irfan over a petty issue. During the altercation, Irfan allegedly assaulted Dharmender with a wooden log, inflicting a severe head injury. Dharmender died on the spot.Based on a complaint lodged by the shop owner, Gowtham, the Selaiyur police registered a murder case and launched a search for the accused. Police teams examined CCTV camera footage from the vicinity, gathered intelligence, and tracked Irfan’s movements. Learning that he was attempting to flee to Bihar by train, the police coordinated with the Government Railway Police at Central railway station.Irfan was intercepted and arrested around 6.30 p.m., while he was allegedly attempting to board a train bound for Patna. Tambaram City Police Commissioner Prem Anand Sinha commended the Selaiyur police team for their swift investigation and coordinated operation, which led to the arrest of the accused within two hours of the murder.
