In a significant crackdown on illegal poaching, police apprehended three men involved in a major abalone shipment in Camps Bay.
The suspects were due to aappear in the Cape Town Magistrate's Court on Thursday, July 16, after law enforcement officers intercepted a major abalone shipment in the heart of Camps Bay.
Western Cape police spokesman Thembakazi Mpendukana confirmed the men were arrested and detained at Camps Bay police station.
Metro police spokeswoman Ruth Solomons confirmed that officers acted on information received at about 5.30am regarding two vehicles suspected of collecting abalone in the area.
