A tiger killed a cow grazing near Koorjorai village close to Thalavadi on Friday (July 17), triggering concern among people in the area. The village falls under the Jeerahalli Forest Range of the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve.According to Forest officials, Basheel Ahmed, a farmer, took his four cows to graze in nearby fields, as part of his daily routine. The tiger emerged from the adjoining forest and attacked one of the cows, killing it on the spot. Hearing the animal’s cries, Mr. Ahmed rushed to the spot and saw the tiger retreating into the forest.On receiving information, Forest personnel inspected the site. Based on the pugmarks found at the spot, they confirmed that the animal involved was a tiger.
