Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev met with Ahmed Majdalani, the special envoy of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, to discuss the security situation in the Middle East and ongoing efforts to achieve a lasting peace.
During the meeting, Radev said Bulgaria remains deeply concerned about developments in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and reaffirmed Sofia’s support for international initiatives aimed at ending the fighting.
The prime minister stressed that Bulgaria backs the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2803 and the Comprehensive Plan for Gaza, describing them as important steps toward restarting the political process and achieving a sustainable settlement with the involvement of the European Union.
"Consistent efforts are needed from the entire international community to achieve a lasting and just peace on the principle of two states, which would guarantee the security of both the State of Palestine and the State of Israel," Radev said.
He also noted that growing numbers of countries have been calling for an effective peace solution since the escalation of hostilities in Gaza, where the conflict has claimed tens of thousands of lives, including those of thousands of children.
