Prime Minister Rumen Radev

Prime Minister Rumen Radev has said that restoring peace in the Middle East would have a direct positive impact on European stability, as he held talks with Lebanon’s Defense Minister Major General Michel Menassa during an official visit to Bulgaria on June 2.

According to Radev, ongoing military tensions in the region are already affecting Europe through disrupted supply chains and rising energy prices. He stressed that continued escalation carries broader risks beyond the immediate conflict zones.

“The restoration of peace in the Middle East will strengthen the stability of Europe, which is directly affected by the disruption of supply chains and especially by rising energy prices resulting from military operations in the region,” Radev said during the meeting.

He also highlighted that Bulgaria is closely following developments across the Middle East, expressing concern over the intensification of military activity in several areas. In his remarks, he underlined diplomacy as the only realistic path toward a durable political settlement.
