Suspended KSA boss Sonny Pillay

The World Karate Federation (WKF) has confirmed that Karate SA (KSA) remains a full member of the world body, despite the suspension of its entire national executive, and that interim president Sean Ahmed is in charge.

IOL first reported this month that the WKF had provisionally suspended KSA's national executive, led by long-serving president Sonny Pillay, and installed an interim board pending disciplinary proceedings.

That suspension stands.

But in a letter to SA Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc) president Barry Hendricks on Wednesday, seen by IOL, WKF president Antonio Espinós made clear the action was aimed at the individuals and not the federation itself, whose membership of the world body remains intact.
