Troops of the 149 Battalion (Motorised), working in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have arrested a suspected informant for the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during an intelligence-led operation in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State.
It was gathered that the suspect was arrested at about 5:00 p.m. on July 14, 2026, in Gubio town following actionable intelligence linking him to terrorist activities in the area.
A video posted online by security analyst and counterinsurgency expert Zagazola Makama shows the suspect making a series of confessional statements in Hausa during a preliminary interrogation, in which he admitted to working as an informant for ISWAP and participating in the June 16, 2026 terrorist infiltration attack on Gubio.
Meanwhile, the June 16 attack claimed the life of a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), who was killed while defending the community against the insurgents.
