The eThekwini Municipality appointed Dr Sandile Mnguni (right) as Chief Financial Officer and Malusi Mhlongo as Executive Director: Office of the City Manager.
The eThekwini Municipality has approved the appointments of Dr Sandile Mnguni as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Malusi Mhlongo as Executive Director in the Office of the City Manager, ahead of a statutory deadline for filling senior management positions.
The appointments were confirmed during an urgent council meeting on Wednesday convened to comply with regulations governing the appointment and conditions of employment of senior managers in local government.
The municipality was required to finalise the appointments by July 18, 2026.
Mnguni was permanently appointed as CFO following a competitive national recruitment process. He had been serving in the position on a fixed-term basis since the retirement of former CFO Krish Kumar in 2021.
