The police having a look at stolen property, in all, valued at over ₹15 lakh recovered with the arrest of 12 men in several cases in Kalaburagi on Thursday.

The police have, in all, arrested 12 men, including members of inter-State gangs, in connection with cattle theft, house burglary and chain-snatching cases reported from different parts of Kalaburagi district.Gold ornaments, cash, cattle and a vehicle, in all valued at over ₹15 lakh, have been recovered in these several cases.Addressing a press conference in Kalaburagi on Thursday, Superintendent of Police Adduru Srinivasulu said that the special investigation teams constituted under the supervision of Aland Deputy Superintendent of Police Thammaraya Patil arrested the accused in all these cases.In one of the cases, the Nimbarga Police gave the names of two arrested as Siddappa Suprayya Kale and Govind Surachand Bhosale, both from Solapur district in Maharashtra, for committing burglaries in locked houses. The police have recovered 10 grams of gold ornaments and ₹30,000 in cash from them.In another case registered in the same police station, the police have arrested Asif Qureshi and Toufiq, both residents of MSK Mill locality in Kalaburagi, in connection with cattle theft. The police seized ₹1.40 lakh in cash and a vehicle, valued at ₹4.50 lakh, used to transport stolen cattle.The police have arrested five members, Khajappa Mukanur and Ramesh Buranpure, both from Aland taluk, Maheboob Doddenavar of Madan Hipparga, and Mallikarjun Talwar and Shashikumar Talwar, both from Devar Hippargi taluk in Vijayapura district, in connection with the theft of cattle from an agricultural field in Afzalpur taluk.The accused stole Khillari bulls, oxen and Jersey cows from farms and cattle sheds during the night and transported them in a pick-up vehicle before selling them in markets in Solapur and parts of Vijayapura district.Four Khillari bulls were recovered from the accused. The police have seized cash believed to be the proceeds of the sale of three head of Khillari cattle and a Jersey cow. The total value of the recovered property in the case is estimated at ₹8.15 lakh.In yet another case, the police arrested Bhagatsingh Salunke, Badal Salunke and Abhiman Arjun Dange, all residents of Vijapur Naka in Solapur district, Maharashtra, for snatching gold chains from women devotees visiting the Sri Dattatreya Temple at Ganagapur village in Afzalpur taluk.According to the police, the accused posed as devotees and targeted women on the temple premises and at the nearby bus stand. The police recovered 40 grams of gold ornaments from the accused.Mr. Srinivasulu said that the police will intensify patrolling and surveillance across the district to prevent property-related offences.He commended the officers and personnel involved in investigation.Additional Superintendent of Police Mahesh Meghannavar was present.
