The police have arrested four chain-snatchers, two bike lifters and a burglar in different cases and recovered stolen property worth, in all, ₹24.97 lakh.

Police Commissioner S.D. Sharanappa, addressing a press conference here on Thursday, said that the arrests were the result of coordinated investigation carried out by special police teams constituted to crack a series of thefts and robberies reported across the city recently.

The teams were formed under the guidance of Assistant Commissioners of Police Praveen Nayak and Sharanabasappa Subedar. They were led by Inspectors of Station Bazaar, Chowk, R.G. Nagar and M.B. Nagar police stations.

Chain-snatching

Giving details of the chain-snatching case, the Police Commissioner said that a complaint was lodged by Basamma Dyage, who is a house-keeping staff from Pragati Colony, stating that unidentified men snatched a 10 gram gold chain from her neck while she was walking on the road.
