Spain recorded the highest number of Islamist extremism arrests in the EU in 2025, with 100 people detained on terrorism-related charges.
Islamist extremism dominated EU terrorism arrests, accounting for 347 of 486 total detentions, with right-wing terrorism representing the next-largest category at 43.
Of 45 terrorist attacks across the EU in 2025, 24 were carried out by Islamist extremists, resulting in six deaths from 22 completed attacks.
The Middle East conflict has intensified radicalisation across the bloc, with arrests recorded of individuals intending to join Iran-linked proxy groups.
