Associate Professor Vanessa Moodley from UKZN has been appointed chairperson of the World Council for Optometry's Education Committee, marking a significant step in advancing global optometry education and eye health training.
A milestone for optometry education and eye health training was achieved when Associate Professor Vanessa Moodley from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) was appointed chairperson of the Education Committee of the World Council for Optometry (WCO).
The appointment has placed Associate Professor Moodley at the forefront of global efforts to shape the educational landscape for optometrists, a role she will fulfil over the next two years.
The position recognises Moodley’s extensive contributions to optometry education, curriculum development, and professional regulation, both in South Africa and on an international scale.
The WCO, a non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing eye health and vision care through education and advocacy, is set to draw from her expertise and vision.
