UKZN appoints award-winning researcher Andile Khathi as deputy dean of medical sciences

Professor Andile Khathi has been appointed to UKZN's Deputy Dean of the Division of Medical Sciences in its School of Medicine.

The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) has appointed internationally recognised prediabetes researcher and award-winning academic Professor Andile Khathi as Deputy Dean of the Division of Medical Sciences in its School of Medicine.

Khathi, 38, takes up the leadership role after serving as Academic Leader for Human Physiology and Anatomy from 2019 to 2026. His appointment follows a distinguished academic career recognised for excellence in both research and teaching.

Welcoming the appointment, Dean and Head of the School of Medicine in the College of Health Sciences, Professor Refiloe Masekela, said Khathi's leadership would strengthen the school's academic mission.

"We warmly welcome Professor Khathi to the School of Medicine. He has shown excellence in research and innovation as well as in teaching and learning. We look forward to his leadership over the next five years," Masekela said.
