A monthslong dispute over the presidency of the Super League appears headed for resolution after Olympiakos owner Vangelis Marinakis and Panathiniakos president Giannis Alafouzos agreed to alternate leadership of the league association.
The arrangement, proposed by the Hellenic Football Federation, calls for each man to serve one year as president during the next two years.
The deal follows two consecutive elections that ended in 7-7 ties, leaving the Super League without a clear administrative outcome and raising doubts that another vote would produce a different result.
The Hellenic Football Federation president Makis Gagatsis played a key role by proposing the rotation as a way around of the impasse.
Although Marinakis initially rejected the idea, he later accepted the compromise to avoid further tensions and possible federation involvement through a vote. Marinakis said the decision does not reflect a change in his positions.{KEIM SHM2}
