Greece’s sports prosecutor received police evidence Wednesday regarding the physical altercation on Sunday between Olympiakos FC owner Evangelos Marinakis and Grigoris Dimitriadis, former chief of staff to the prime minister, at Athens’ Telekom Center (OAKA) before the Euroleague basketball final.
Police compiled security camera footage and amateur videos circulating online which show Marinakis slapping Dimitriadis, who then punched Marinakis in the face. Two additional individuals are identified: a close relative of Marinakis, recorded throwing a water bottle at Dimitriadis, and a member of Marinakis’ personal security detail, who threw a flag toward Dimitriadis.
The prosecutor will legally classify the conduct and likely order a formal preliminary investigation. Marinakis has already filed a criminal complaint. A counter-complaint from Dimitriadis is also possible.
