The pair famously clashed on Good Morning Britain in March 2021 following a discussion about Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.‌The pair sparked fury when Piers dramatically accused the Duchess of "cutting him off" when she started dating Prince Harry in July 2016. Prior to the pair meeting, Piers claimed he had become pals with Meghan, who at the time was working as an actress on the US legal drama, Suits.‌But five years on from the heated discussion which saw Morgan storm off the set of the ITV morning programme, live on air, he has addressed his time on the show.‌In an episode of his YouTube show, Piers Morgan Uncensored, he took a swipe at Beresford. Speaking of Good Morning Britain, he said: "You become part of a family. I see all my old – well, nearly all my old – Good Morning Britain colleagues."I don't see the weather guy very often. I would cross continents to avoid him. But the others, I do still see a lot of. You do become very close, actually."‌During their heated clash, Piers claimed that Meghan had lied when she claimed that officials at Buckingham Palace allegedly rejected her pleas for help when she was battling suicidal thoughts, which left Alex far from impressed.Alex, who has a white mother and a dad with Guyanese heritage, clearly felt strongly about Piers' most recent comments about Meghan and Harry, and told him: "This is absolutely diabolical behaviour."‌Referring to Piers' claims that he used to talk to Meghan and she "dropped him", Alex told him: "She's entitled to cut you off if she wants to." Speaking about the Sussexes' interview with Oprah and their decision to leave the UK, Alex said: "They've had an overwhelming amount of negative press."You know, I watched the programme yesterday and, yes, they had some great press around the wedding, but what press is going to trash someone's special day? There was bad press around the engagement before the engagement, and everything that has followed since has been incredibly damaging, quite clearly, to Meghan's mental health and also to Harry.‌"And I hear Piers say William has gone through the same thing but, do you know what, siblings experience tragedy in their life and one will be absolutely fine and brush it off."And the other will not be able to deal with it so strongly and that is clearly what has happened with Harry in this situation. He walked behind his mother's coffin at a tender, tender age in front of the globe. That is going to shape a young boy for the rest of his life, so I think we all need to take a step back."Alex went on to say that he understood Piers didn't like the Duchess, which he had "made it so clear" on the programme, and added that he understood Piers had a bond with the Duchess before she cut him off , before stating that Meghan had never spoken publicly about Piers.‌"I don't think she has, but, yet, you continue to trash her," he said. A furious Piers stood and fumed: "OK, I'm done with this, Sorry, no... Sorry, can't do this," before walking off set. He was absent from the live broadcast for 20 minutes but later returned, hitting out at Alex for "launching a personal derogatory attack" on a person he worked with."I'm not coming on this show to try and tear you down," Alex told Piers, as the broadcaster admitted it was his idea to have Alex on the show. The Duchess made a formal complaint to ITV and Piers was informed he needed to apologise for his comments.Article continues belowPiers refused, and he later quit his job on the programme.
