The geography of tax evasion defines the map of the tax inspectors’ audits this year, with authorities turning their attention to the areas where the strongest evidence of noncompliance is recorded.

At the top of the list are regions of the Peloponnese, with Corinthia and Arcadia standing out, followed by Evia, Ilia, Achaia, Hania, Lasithi, Laconia and Aitoloakarnania.

Increased surveillance is also foreseen in areas of Attica, Viotia, as well as in popular island destinations of the Cyclades and Dodecanese, where economic activity multiplies during the summer months. In the island regions, the focus is on Paros, Mykonos, Santorini as well as Rhodes and Kos.
