European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen believes that the next negotiation cluster that could be opened for Ukraine is Cluster 2 (Internal Market).

She made the statement at a press conference during her visit to Kyiv on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"I have the questions on the clusters – when the remaining clusters will be opened. The answer would be: 'as soon as possible'," von der Leyen said.

She emphasized that different clusters cover different topics, and candidate countries approach the opening of clusters with varying levels of preparedness.

"For example, Cluster 2 is for the Internal Market. Our candidate countries have very different starting positions. Ukraine has already done a lot of what is potentially in Cluster 2. It has already done homework, because we have the DCFTA (the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement) and even more we also have facility only for Ukraine – the Ukraine Facility," von der Leyen said.
